Update Monday: On Sunday night, rue21’s website indicated both Sioux Falls stores were still open. Today, we learned that the national retailer also closed the Dawley Farm Village site.

Four rue21 clothing stores in South Dakota are closing, but the two locations in Sioux Falls will remain open.

The fast-fashion retailer for young women and men is closing about 400 of 1,100 stores, including sites in Mitchell, Watertown, Pierre and Aberdeen. The Rapid City location will remain open.

“It’s true — we are closing some stores,” the Pennsylvania-based company said on its website. “It was a difficult but necessary decision.”

The Sioux Falls stores are in The Empire Mall and at Dawley Farm Village.
