Restaurant Roundup: Sourdough classes, new meal-prep offering

Jan. 12, 2023

Want to learn how to make sourdough bread from a master? David Napolitano, the owner of Breadico, is offering classes from 6 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday through March. Participants will mix dough by hand with freshly milled organic flour grown in South Dakota and bake their own loaf in Breadico’s hearth ovens. Charcuterie and wine will be offered. The fee is $70. Sign up online.

Sinless Sweets has started offering a three-day meal-prep service featuring its gluten-free, vegan baked goods, soups, salads and entrees. Each week, customers can select from a variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The price is $135 for nine meals. Orders can be placed online Monday through Thursday with pickup Saturday and Sunday. Menus will change every month.

The good news is Intoxibakes reopened earlier this week after getting new ovens to replace ones damaged when a water pipe broke in the Jones421 Building. The bad news is the ovens aren’t working properly and have to be returned, the bakery said in a post on social media. “We will remain open for now but will have limited options in the case. In addition, we will have to limit orders for this week and possibly next! This is a big setback for us, and while we are extremely frustrated, we hope we can get through this and be better than ever once this is all figured out.”

Taverns + Tots is bottling the sauce it uses for sandwiches on the food truck so customers can make their own taverns at home. It’s available for purchase online, with home delivery for Sioux Falls orders. The owners are working to get it on local grocery store shelves too.

La Plaza Fiesta Mexican Restaurant opened in early December without a beer and wine license, but that has been approved and issued. The restaurant near 85th and Minnesota has eight offerings of beer on tap and several by the bottle. Malt-based margaritas will be available soon.

Lupulin Brewing Co. is hosting training sessions to teach dogs how to be great companions at breweries. Dogs and handlers will attend two sessions: noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday and Jan. 21. Certified dog trainer Maggie Pearson will help owners and dogs work on loose-leash walking in a public place, sitting for polite greetings, lying under a table and accepting pets from strangers. Owners must be 21 or older. The fee is $43, and there’s even a chance to get certified. Register online.

Donate blood Friday at Flyboy Donuts, and get a gift card for a free dozen doughnuts. Bloodmobiles will be parked at the shops on East 10th Street and at The Bridges at 57th. Follow the links to register for a time slot.

Potbelly Sandwich Works is celebrating its 46th anniversary with a BOGO special Friday for orders through the app and online. Use the code BOGO.
