The Cake Lady has started stocking a case with bars and other treats for sale to let customers know it does more than custom cakes. The bakery at 2225 W. 50th St. typically fills up the case on Fridays and Saturdays with baked goods like its popular Carmelita bars, cream puffs, cheesecake bites, mini pies, brownies and dessert shots. The bakery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, although it sometimes closes in the midafternoon on Saturdays.

Other days of the week, The Cake Lady customers can find Cake Lady Crack, a snack mix that comes in a variety of flavors, and candies like toffee and hand-dipped caramels. Starting next week, the bakery also will start stocking holiday trays.

Intoxibakes has a new dessert offering. It has started making 10-inch fruit pizzas to order. They have a sugar cookie crust, feed 12 to 18 people and cost $50.

At Intoxibakes’ sister sweet shop, Candy Cloud Factory, there’s a new dessert pizza too. This one features a “crust” made of four flavors of cotton candy and a “sauce” of four scoops of SDSU Ice Cream, topped with two choices of candy and a syrup drizzle. It feeds four for $24.

Roots of Brasil has gained a liquor license and crafted a menu of cocktails, many of which are unique to Brazil, co-owner Mark Gillespie said. That includes the signature caipirnha, which features muddled lime, sugar and cachaca, which is fermented sugar cane juice that’s similar to rum. There’s a fresh fruit version and one with Chambord. Other drinks inclue margaritas, mojitos and an Old-Fashioned. The Fim de Noite, which translates to End of the Night, “is like a boozy milkshake,” Gillespie said. “It’s really good.” And there are new weeknight drink specials to celebrate with hours of 5 p.m. to close. Tuesday: half-price taps. Wednesday: half-price sangria. Thursdays: $6 Caipirinhas.

The First National Bank in Sioux Falls is helping kick off the Winter Wonderland at Falls Park with a free scoop of ice cream and a hot drink at Falls Overlook Cafe. The Kindness First event  begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday after the fireworks at the lighting ceremony. On Saturday, Falls Overlook Cafe, which is operated by Stensland Family Farms, will have its own celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. with a chili bar, holiday drinks, ice cream, beer and wine. There’s also a holiday photo booth. Hours until the Winter Wonderland lights get turned off in January are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

There’s also a special beverage menu.

The Wine Bar at Allure is no longer open with regular hours. The tropical-themed bar in the Allure Health building on South Minnesota Avenue is transitioning to hosting private events, Allure Health owner Jeremy Storm said in a post on The Wine Bar’s Facebook page. If you’re interested in having a gathering in the space, send an email to [email protected]. The bar opened in early March as Thalia Bar and was renamed in June.

While The Treasury in downtown Sioux Falls might be known for its curated cocktails and stylish setting, Chef Michael Charpentier makes sure the food draws attention too. The newest menu, which you can view here, has been out for a few weeks, and one thing has changed since they were printed. The chicken wings are served with an Asian-inspired sauce instead of the fish sauce caramel.

Obscure Brewing Co. has a new pizza for winter: the Pickle Bacon Ranch, It’s a ranch base, pickles, bacon crumbles and mozzarella. Brats and Reuben sandwiches also are back for the season.

There’s still time to enjoy the November features at R Wine Bar & Kitchen. Shrimp fra diavolo features shrimp tossed with fettuccine in the house pomodoro sauce with Calabrian chilis. It’s topped with roasted garlic ricotta, shaved Parmesan and micro basil. And this month, there are two desserts to choose from: maple pecan cheesecake and espresso creme brulee.

Two for $5 KFC wraps have made their return to the menu. Choose from old favorites Classic and Spicy Slaw, or try the new Mac & Cheese Chicken Wrap.

Soup has returned to the menu at Pita Pit. The restaurants serve two of the five rotating choices every day.

Toppers Pizza has a new type of wing. The chain describes Piggy Wings as “slow-cooked, lightly seasoned, fall-off-the-bone pork shank piggy wings.” They come in orders of five, 10 or 15 wings in six flavors: Oven Roasted, Mild Buffalo, Hot Buffalo, Boom Boom, Smoky BBQ and Parmesan Garlic.

A Mexican ice cream shop that started in Sioux City and expanded to Sioux Falls earlier this year now has a location in Huron. El Chamoy, which serves other sweet and savory treats, is owned by a relative of the owners of the Sioux Falls shop. It’s on the southwest edge of town near the high school.
