Restaurant Roundup: More pizza downtown, cute cupcakes, free pup cups

Aug. 24, 2023

In one block downtown, three bars now serve pizza from the wholesale arm of Sunny’s Pizzeria, but the newest location is the only one to offer them at lunchtime. The Orion Pub, which is open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily, offers five pre-made specialty pizzas along with a classic pepperoni. Each pizza takes 10 to 15 minutes to bake. The Orion is co-owned by Sunny’s founder Jon Oppold. The other wholesale partners downtown are EightyOne Arcade Bar, which has a full kitchen and menu of Sunny’s pizzas, and Glacial Lakes Distillery & Brewhouse, which sells the pre-made versions.

We missed telling you about Oh My Cupcake’s National Cat Day cupcakes, but here’s the scoop on Saturday’s National Dog Day. The bakery is taking orders for six-packs with three dog designs in each: Corgi, Westie and Cavalier King Charles. You’ll get two chocolate, two vanilla and two vanilla almond. Singles will be available Saturday in the two stores while supplies last.

To celebrate National Dog Day, Scooter’s Coffee is giving out pumpkin spice pup cups Saturday. The first 15 dogs to stop by at each location will get a free bandanna. Humans can enjoy the return of the fall pumpkin spice menu.

Celebrate the end of summer with the Taste of New England featured menus at 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner. Available for lunch and dinner: Seaside Salad, White Clam Flatbread and Boston Cream Pie Tower. Lunch only: Lobster Sliders and Yankee Beef Commercial. Dinner only: Lobster Cakes, Cracker Crusted Cod and Yankee Style Short Ribs. Featured drinks are a lychee martini, blueberry maple Old-Fashioned and vanilla hazelnut iced coffee with vanilla vodka and Frangelico.

The Ultimate Endless Shrimp special is back at Red Lobster. Mix and match options for $20, dine-in only. Choose three of the shrimp dishes, and servers will bring more choices after that. New this year: Crispy Dragon Shrimp. Other choices include shrimp rangoon, garlic shrimp scampi, grilled shrimp skewers, Walt’s Favorite Shrimp and shrimp linguini alfredo.

After this week’s hot spell led to the cancellation of events for the ‘Brosia Bowl food truck, the downtown location in the Jones421 Building is offering a buy one get one at half-price special on salads until the extra food is gone. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Owner Darcy Green donated to The Banquet some of the extra food she was planning to use for taco and curry bowls.

Customers can donate a box of tissues and get a free beer at Ken’s Korner. The bar will accept donations through Sept. 15 and then donate them to Hawthorne Elementary.
