Restaurant Roundup: Mini Blizzard flights, free ice cream, taco ride

Have trouble picking which flavor of DQ Blizzard to order? Dairy Queen is offering Mini Blizzard Treat Flights for a limited time. Get three 6-ounce choices for $7. And new summer Blizzard options have been released: Brownie Dough, Cotton Candy, Caramel Cannonball, Oreo Cookie Jar, Summer Berry Cheesecake and S’mores.

McNally’s Irish Pub has introduced several spring features. Diners can choose from a chicken bacon ranch wrap, pesto chicken salad and duck pot stickers. Brussels sprouts are featured two ways: sauteed with cream, dill and stone-ground mustard and roasted for a flatbread along with crispy prosciutto, pesto, shaved parmesan and balsamic reduction.

Flyboy Donuts is offering a “Fun Injector” package. Get two dozen glazed doughnut holes and three syringes filled with Bavarian cream, raspberry jelly and caramel sauce for $10. You can inject the doughnuts or drizzle the sweets on top.

Here’s a chance to get free ice cream and check out the takeover of Falls Overlook Cafe by Stensland Family Farms. The Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau is holding a Surprise & Delight event Friday as part of National Travel and Tourism Week. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the first 50 people to enter the restaurant on the east side of Falls Park will get a mini ice cream cone. The CVB also will give out free T-shirts to the first 100 people.

If you love Mexican and other ethnic food, the annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is a great option Saturday. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Falls Park. Vendors include Antojitos Latinos, Breaking Burrito, El Elote, Taqueria Sanchez, Taqueria Suyapa, Hernandez to Go, Nikki’s Burrito Express, Boki Gelato, Boki European Street Food and Kabab King. Garza Insurance Agency will serve grilled chicken with rice, beans, salsa and tortillas; Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish will serve pupusas; and Pueblo de Dios will have tamales. There will be food trucks, live music and a play zone for kids with pinatas, inflatables and more. A highlight of the event is the Chihuahua Fashion Show at 3:45 p.m. The event benefits Caminando Juntos, a ministry of the Presentation Sisters. Admission is free.

Need a last-minute Mother’s Day gift? Bloom is hosting a Mother’s Day cookie decorating class with The Cookie Jar Eatery. For $15, you can decorate a dozen cookies in a variety of shapes with frosting, sprinkles and no mess to clean up at home. The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. p.m. at Bloom, 1608 S. Western Ave. in Park Ridge Galleria. All ages are welcome. Register at 978-0991.

Here’s the lineup for the first Food Truck Tuesday next week at Golf Addiction: Berkes BBQ, Harry’s Yellow Submarine, Hunny & Bunny, The Lunch Box, Ollies and the SDSU Ice Cream Truck.  The business at 57th and Marion hosts the event every other Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. through Sept. 17. Golf Addiction sells beer, with Fernson Brewing Co. as the local brewery pick. There will be live music and a free bouncy house for kids.

Seven food trucks will be in Brandon next week for Food Truck Wednesdays at Brandon Lutheran Church. The community event runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. The lineup includes Berkes BBQ, Breaking Burrito, Broken Trellis, Hunny & Bunny, My Place Mobile Cafe, Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza and The Tasty Trolley. The other event will be scheduled for September.

The first event for the Sioux Falls Taco Ride season, now in its fifth year, will be May 16. Cyclists will gather in the former Kmart parking lot on East 10th Street at 6 p.m. They will ride together and then return for tacos at the nearby Giliberto’s. The routes are usually 10 miles on low-volume streets and the bike trail. There are no registrations, check-ins or fees. Just show up to ride and eat!
