Restaurant Roundup: Lunch returns to PAve, new menu items, Stensland ice cream contest

Lunch is back at PAve with a new menu. There’s a mix-and-match option with salads, stuffed potatoes and soups. Get any two for $9. Other choices include sandwiches, wraps, salads, a hot dog, hamburger, and fish and chips. Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Look’s Marketplace has new menu items from the Live Fire kitchen. Start off with Tom Bombs, a sharable dish of beef and pork meatballs with marinara, almond pesto, ricotta cream, with Look’s Bakehouse crostini. New entrees include steak frites, grilled chicken skewers, cedar salmon, spicy scallops, a pork ribeye and Jimmy Red Grits, with options to add shrimp or smoked pork belly. New sandwiches and burgers include the double dog, chicken cordon bleu, pimento cheeseburger and luau burger.

The families of Stensland Family Farms are putting their ice cream-making skills to the test. Each couple created a custom flavor: Midnight Snack, Summer Doodle, Rhubarb Bonanza, Cookie Butter Crunch and Nutella Cheesecake. Customers at the central retail shop at 3101 W. 41st St. can sample each one and vote for their favorite. The winner will be added to the dipping cabinets at all locations in July to celebrate ice cream month.

WilLiquors has started carrying fresh Flyboy Donuts on Friday and Saturdays. Customers also can enjoy a free cup of Flyboy Coffee and pick up a bag of beans or K-Cups.

Lili Berries is expanding its offerings to include chocolate-covered and caramel chocolate-covered apples. Ryanna Sandoval started her home-based business last year making decorative chocolate-covered strawberries. Customers can place orders through Facebook, Instagram or by emailing [email protected].

K Restaurant in the 8th & Railroad Center stopped serving lunch and dinner in February, focusing instead of hosting events and catering. Owner Tina Kuehn has been offering take-and-bake First Friday meals, but diners can eat in the restaurant or on the patio for June’s First Friday. There’s good news and bad news, however. The bad news first: Reservations are full. The good news: Kuehn plans to do it again for the First Friday in July. Diners can get on the list now by calling the restaurant.

The Attic Bar & Grill on the east side and Ass’ociates will be closed on Sundays through the Fourth of July. The casino will still be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant on West 12th Street will be open. Both locations also have a new featured menu with a Mexican shrimp cocktail, mahi mahi sandwich, strawberry salad, fried pork ribs, egg roll in a bowl and a strawberry shortcake cheesecake tower.

Tropical Sno has expanded its days of operation. It’s open from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Hawaiian shave ice trailer is in the parking lot at Suburban Lanes at 35th and Spring. The treats come in 25-plus flavors and three sizes, ranging in price from $5 for $7. There are special flavors every week, including some with ice cream. Dog owners can treat their pet to a cup of shaved ice for $1.

Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars has released a drink with Sioux Falls Pride as part of Pride Month. Project Inclusion is a rainbow sherbet-inspired, gluten-free hard seltzer. The mix of flavors includes key lime, orange, raspberry and pineapple. It’s available on draft and a limited release of cans.

Cherry Creek Grill on East 26th Street has new summer drinks to enjoy on the patio. Try the Ciroc Citrus or Mexican mules, Pink Bikini with Captain Morgan Coconut Rum, amaretto and raspberry lemonade or The Flamingo with Smirnoff Pink Lemonade, sprite and a splash of cranberry juice.

Noodles & Company has new stuffed tortelloni dishes. The roasted garlic cream tortelloni is filled with cheese, with a light roasted garlic and onion cream sauce with zucchini, mushrooms and spinach, finished with MontAmore cheese and parsley. The other two offerings start with tortelloni filled with a blend of ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, onion and garlic. The three-cheese pesto has a basil pesto cream sauce with garlic, mushrooms tomato and parmesan, and the three-cheese rosa has a spicy tomato cream sauce with mushrooms, roma tomatoes, spinach and parmesan.

Pizza Ranch is also known for its chicken and now it’s serving chicken tenders for takeout or delivery. They’re all white meat and hand-dipped in-house. Orders come in five, eight or 12 pieces. There’s one sauce, and it’s a combination honey mustard barbecue.
