Pop-up nightclub-style event debuts Friday

A new nightclub is coming to downtown Sioux Falls — but only for one night to start.

Monick Yards is hosting its first pop-up nightclub-style party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at its event venue, 605 E. Eighth St.

“The idea is really to create a nightclub vibe that doesn’t quite exist in Sioux Falls,” said Ashton Sperle, marketing manager. “We’re trying to elevate the nightclub scene, so we’ll have Serendipitous Events styling the venue, and Mr. Wobbles will be DJing.”

Club Monick will be open to those 21 and older. The entry fee is $15, and there will be beverages for purchase curated by The Carpenter Bar Group.

“It’s a Friendsgiving theme, so our hope is people who are downtown after the Parade of Lights or visiting over Thanksgiving weekend will discover this whole new kind of event,” Sperle said. “Think dance floor and lounge, disco balls, so very club vibes.”

If all goes well, Monick Yards could host Club Monick events several times throughout the year.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, or you can reserve yours online here.

While Monick Yards occasionally hosts its own special events like this, it’s otherwise used as a venue for private events. The space is increasingly popular with weddings, showers, social events and corporate or nonprofit functions.

“It’s a very flexible space, so we’re a draw for a lot of different events and are always glad to give you a tour and show you the options for hosting your group here,” Sperle said. “We’re fairly full going forward, but there is some availability left depending on your timing and event size for this year and into next year. Peak season already is filling up next year, so it’s very limited, especially on Saturdays.”
