Pet Supplies Plus opens first Sioux Falls store

Aug. 13, 2021

National pet retailer Pet Supplies Plus has opened its first Sioux Falls location.

The store is at 1740 S. St. Michaels Circle, near 26th Street and Marion Road, and includes grooming and self-pet wash stations.

It’s franchised locally by Matt and Shana Nelson, Sioux Falls natives and Army veterans.

“We have been a part of this area for a long time and want to be involved with each and every neighbor that walks through our doors,” Matt Nelson said. “We know that Sioux Falls is unique, with a strong sense of family, and we are excited to bring a new business to our neighborhood.”

In addition to a wide range of pet-related inventory, the store will sell birds; reptiles such as snakes, frogs, geckos, anoles and bearded dragons; and small animals such as hamsters, guinea pigs and chinchillas. They’re expected to arrive next week.

Fish also are expected to arrive then.

There’s also a carryout service in which team members carry heavy items to customers’ cars.

Pet Supplies Plus will work with local animal shelters, rescue organizations and nonprofits to host year-round adoption events, fundraisers and pet food and product drives.

A weekend grand-opening event is scheduled starting Oct. 2. There will be mystery-savings scratch cards, giveaways and the chance to win a year’s worth of dog or cat food.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
