Sue Punke is a consultant. She previously worked as an assistant vice president/head of human resources at Fiserv and most recently as an HR business partner with MetaBank.

Teri Bertness is a part-time project consultant. She also works full-time as an HR specialist with USDA Rural Development. Before starting that job in 2011, Bertness spent 12 years as director of human resources with the city of Mitchell. She holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and as a Senior Certified Professional.

The award recognizes firms whose advisers have proven themselves skilled and ambitious by virtue of three solid years of revenue growth. Arete’s Sioux Falls office is managed by Dennis Thurman, who specializes in private equity investments.

Stacie Dykstra has been named as a partner at Cain Ellsworth & Company LLP. Dykstra began her career at the CPA firm in November 2002 as a tax accountant. After five years, she moved into the role of firm administrator, and for the past five years, she has been the director of business development.

CFA Society Minnesota

CFA Society Minnesota has recognized seven new Chartered Financial Analyst charter-holders: Matthew Carey, Daniel Elmer, Zachary Nipp and Oless Voznyuk, all of the South Dakota Investment Council; Lucas Kading and Ian Williams, both of MetaBank; and Aaron Rasmussen, Alpas Capital LLC. The organization, which covers Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota, also recognized Tyler Stewart of U.S. Bank and Matthew Adamson of The First National Bank in Sioux Falls, who earned the CFA designation in recent years; and Austin Wagner of Elgethun Capital Management, who recently passed the rigorous exams.

Brendan Reilly returns as a partner, having previously practiced law at the firm for 19 years.  He specializes in corporate and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate and intellectual property.

Michael Srstka has joined the firm as an associate attorney.  He practices corporate and real estate law. Srstka is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. Before attending law school, Srstka represented the Air Force as a pianist in the U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band.

Governor’s Awards

Two Sioux Falls employers have received Governor’s Awards, which recognize the achievements of employers, individuals with disabilities and other South Dakotans for their leadership and contributions toward the employment of people with disabilities. Five Star Call Centers and the University of South Dakota/Sanford School of Medicine received Outstanding Employer awards in their respective categories. They were nominated by Business Resource Network.

Spoke-N-Sport has been named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2019 by the National Bicycle Dealers Association. Fewer than 200 shops qualified for the honor. Shops complete an application survey that quantifies key elements found in successful retail operations. Mystery shoppers evaluate dealers through contact by phone, email and in-store visits. America’s Best Bike Shops certification requires not only great shopping experiences and expert staff but also support for local and national cycling advocacy.
