Omaha-based IV hydration spa expands to Sioux Falls

July 29, 2022

A new spa focused on IV therapy is planning to open in August in western Sioux Falls.

Live Hydration Spa, based out of Omaha, is opening a franchise in a retail center near Louise Avenue and 57th Street. Other businesses at Village on Louise include Noodles & Company, Olive Destination and Barre3.

Franchise owner Dale Weber, who also owns Home Instead in Sioux Falls, said the spa is a good opportunity for residents. This will be the sixth Live Hydration location and the first outside of Nebraska.

The spa was started by two registered nurses in 2018 to deliver nutrients to clients faster than ingested vitamins. IV treatment spas are more common on the East and West coasts than in the Midwest.

Trained nurses and nurse practitioners set up individuals on an IV drip to receive vitamins, nutrients and minerals directly into their bloodstream.

“It’s more of an immediate effect,” Weber said. “It gets you the vitamins and minerals immediately, and you feel relief a lot faster.”

Treatments are geared toward athletes, people with migraines or clients who are feeling fatigued or would like to boost their immune system. Additionally, the spa offers beauty and party sessions.

IV therapy helps clients rehydrate faster, Weber said. Professional MMA fighters use such services before and after their matches to speed up recovery times. He noted that the party session is a popular option for bachelorette gatherings as well, helping attendees potentially avoid hangovers.

The sessions last between 30 minutes to an hour. Prices range from $100 to $145, and monthly memberships range from $80 to $120 monthly.

“There have been some people who come in once a week,” Weber said of other locations. “It’s up to the individual and what they want.”

The treatments are similar to those someone might get in a hospital setting but are more relaxed. The spa offers complimentary beverages during a client’s session and other relaxing activities, such as watching television.

The spa does not accept insurance and is not intended to replace regular hospital IV treatments.

Weber plans to start with two full-time nurses and increase to a full staff of 10 employees. Nurses will also be trained for Botox treatments and Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D injections. An oxygen bar also will be offered as an add-on service for clients.

Live Hydration Spa will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
