New podcast from The Event Company delves into ‘untold stories of incredible people’

July 10, 2024

A new video podcast from Sioux Falls-based The Event Company blends local guests with national names.

It’s a second podcast for the business, which did more than 70 episodes several years ago called “The Good Work,” which showcased good work people in Sioux Falls were doing in the community.

“Since wrapping that podcast series in 2020, our team at The Event Company knew we wanted to bring back podcasting but in a new and fresh way,” CEO Addie Graham-Kramer said.

“After months of brainstorming and concepting with our creative team, ‘Uncorked + Unscripted’ was born.”

The podcast is “a bit more edgy and raw than our more polished branding at The Event Company, which was our goal,” she said. “We truly want to take our viewers and listeners behind the scenes of the event world through this podcast, while also giving people a platform to share stories they never have!”

“Uncorked + Unscripted” draws on The Event Company’s experiences with everyone from A-list celebrities and professional athletes to musicians and business owners.

The idea is to tell “the untold stories of the incredible people we’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with at The Event Company,” Graham-Kramer said.

“It’s an upbeat, punchy half-hour of easy listening. We tell our guests that no topic is off-limits! So many people have incredible stories to tell about their lives and the crazy world of events, and we’re here to tell them in an unscripted way.”

The podcast launched this spring.

Guests so far have included:

  • Author and keynote speaker Alyson Van Hooser.
  • Sarah Owens of the Nashville-based band Hudson Valley — the house band for Blake Shelton’s bar, Ole Red.
  • Sioux Falls entrepreneur and business coach John Meyer.
  • Former USD football player and Atlanta Falcons linebacker Tyler Starr.

The Event Company uses the podcast as a marketing tactic to reach new audiences and potential clients across the country that it wouldn’t reach otherwise, Graham-Kramer said.

“We’ve been seeing some businesses test the podcast waters over the past few years, but I think podcasting will be a huge conversation in marketing conference rooms for years to come,” she said.

“As long as we continue to engage in video-centric social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram/Facebook Reels, there’s going to be an audience out there craving fresh content to consume. We’re trying to capitalize on that as a business and meet people where they are to demonstrate what we do as event industry leaders and who we are at The Event Company.”

Season one will include 26 episodes, with a new one posting every other Thursday. Find it on on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as on YouTube. Access the YouTube videos at UncorkedUnscripted.com.
