New events to bring 1,000-plus visitors to Sioux Falls
Jan. 27, 2026
A trio of recent event bookings are expected to bring more than 1,000 visitors to Sioux Falls.
The Premier National League is bringing its 2026 Winter Nationals to the Sioux Falls Convention Center on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. It will involve about 400 boy and girl wrestlers along with 400 to 600 spectators.
This is a first-time event for Sioux Falls that was brought to town by Experience Sioux Falls, which reached out to PNL in 2024 to pitch the organization on a site for a future event. Sioux Falls then was considered when the organization needed to pivot to a new location for its 2026 Winter Nationals, a deal that came together after a site visit last month.
Other events the organization recently landed include the 2027 Dairy Calf and Heifer Annual Conference, which will bring more than 230 people to the Sioux Falls Convention Center complex April 27, with more than 500 overnight stays. The Dairy Calf and Heifer Association focuses on producers and managers raising dairy calves and replacement heifers.
The Central Association of Physical Plant Administrators Conference is expected to bring an estimated 300 people with 435 overnight stays to the Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown in September 2027.
CAPPA is a regional association of Physical Plant Administrators in institutions, or systems of institutions, which meet the eligibility criteria of higher education, technology or PK-12.
“Our team has worked hard to secure these events, and each will bring a large number of visitors to the city, driving local spending and increased tax revenue,” said Teri Schmidt, CEO of Experience Sioux Falls.
