Jan. 12, 2026
This week’s Up-and-Comer is Bailey Wood, director of marketing at Click Rain.
Name: Bailey Wood
Age: 30
Hometown: Council Bluffs, Iowa
What brought you to Sioux Falls?
Click Rain first brought me to the Sioux Falls area, though I worked remotely from Council Bluffs/Omaha for the first two years. Before Click Rain, I had never visited South Dakota. From the start, I was immediately struck by Click Rain’s culture, client base and the overall caliber of its people and work. Working at Click Rain, alongside discovering Sioux Falls as an incredible community with exciting momentum, convinced my husband and me to move here and fully invest in the city’s future.
What keeps you in Sioux Falls?
Sioux Falls is a truly special community with so much engagement and genuine care. Residents consistently show up for their neighbors and are actively involved in building the city. I’ve found that people hold high, positive expectations for one another, and I’ve been pushed to become a better, smarter and kinder version of myself because of the supportive people surrounding me. This amazing blend of community, professional opportunity and reliability is why I am planning my long-term future right here in Sioux Falls.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
The opportunity to make a tangible impact is what I love most about my role at Click Rain. Click Rain creates opportunities for me to connect, engage and make a difference both professionally and civically. From participating in programs like EmBe’s Women’s Leadership Program to developing impactful solutions for our clients, I have been given many avenues to contribute to my community and foster my own growth.
How did you get connected to your industry?
I grew up as a dedicated musician and violinist, initially starting college as a music education major. But in that first year, I realized I wanted to keep music as a personal passion, not a career. This led me to step back and honestly assess where my real strengths and energy lay. I focused on my natural talents, things like communication, organization, strategy and the ability to make connections, which pointed me toward marketing. It felt like the right fit immediately, and I haven’t looked back. Having worked as a consultant, at marketing agencies and in an internal marketing department, I developed a foundation that gives me the ability to truly understand and meet my clients’ needs.
Describe your workplace in three words.
Strategic, connected, growth.
What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?
I’ve been a rock and mineral collector for years! I love getting to hold a little piece of scientific history that could be thousands or even millions of years old. My childhood dream was to be an archaeologist. My desk at Click Rain displays a small collection that includes a meteorite, every nonradioactive element from the periodic table and a mini museum display featuring tiny specimens like a 4-billion-year-old piece of Earth.
What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?
For me, the most rewarding form of contribution is investing my time and energy directly into the community. Giving genuine, focused attention to people, whether I’m volunteering for the Veterans Community Project or mentoring through EmBe, makes a difference. It’s true that time is precious, so strategically giving that time away can be so rewarding and impactful!
What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?
I think Trader Joe’s would be a hit in Sioux Falls!
If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?
If I had $1 million to start a business, my focus would be in the real estate investment and repositioning space. My husband and I have always shared a passion for properties and make a dynamic team when it comes to realizing a vision. I specialize in seeing the strategy, market potential and design vision for a property, while he has the hands-on skills to execute the necessary renovations and physical transformation.
