Jersey Mike’s Subs and Nekter Juice Bar both are opening this week in south Sioux Falls.

The national restaurant chains will be ready for diners Wednesday as both open at 81 Gardens, a new mixed-use development at 81st Street and Minnesota Avenue.

It’s a third location for Jersey Mike’s and a second for Nekter Juice Bar.

“We loved this location due to the impressive growth we’re seeing to the south of Sioux Falls, with an emphasis on being close to the Harrisburg and Tea communities,” said Andrew Ticknor, franchisee for Jersey Mike’s. “The amount of rooftops in the area made it a no-brainer.”

“Sioux Falls support for Jersey Mike’s Subs has continued to be overwhelming in a great way,” Ticknor said. “We couldn’t be more thankful for our customers bearing with us as we find our groove and the unwavering support when it comes to our local charities and giving back to the community.”

Hours for Jersey Mike’s are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For the grand opening Wednesday, the charity partner will be Resource for Human Development.

Next door, Nekter Juice Bar also opens Wednesday, following an opening at Dawley Farm Village earlier this year. Jody and Melissa Reno are the franchise owners for both locations. The grand-opening celebration was earlier this month on the east side, which drew “a great turnout,” Jody Reno said.

“We had a lot of new people finding us for the first time, so between the grand opening and second location, we’re really just hoping to let more people in Sioux Falls know we’re here and what we are and the healthy options we have.”

Customers can choose from six fresh juices, 12 smoothies and eight acai bowls, plus a variety of healthy snacks, grab-and-go items and detox options.

The south-side location is slightly smaller than the one at Dawley Farm because it doesn’t have a community gathering room.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Next door to Nekter at 81 Gardens, the Renos have opened their second franchised concept: Prime IV. It’s one of the nation’s fastest-growing IV concepts and has made multiple national rankings for its growth and business model.

The business can accommodate more than 10 customers at a time for a variety of IV-based therapies and also offers a cryotherapy electric chamber.

Since opening at the end of April, “We’ve definitely had people booking online and stopping in, so I think with where we’re at with staff, we don’t want to be too much busier, but it’s been good. We can definitely take more bookings,” Reno said.

The business is still hiring for an another full-time registered nurse. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

“We had people even before we opened that were pulling up and checking Prime IV out, so I know it will start to get more traction,” Reno said.

Prime IV, which has an address of 7216 S. Lyncrest Place, and the restaurants bring needed options for the area, he added.

“We feel like with the 85th and Walmart hub, people are still looking for more options … and there are a lot of businesses as you go north to 69th, so I think it will be a great option adding Jersey and Nekter as an option for lunch at the neighboring businesses,” he said.

“And Grand Prairie is a great neighbor to the west. A lot of people are walking around pushing their strollers and walking dogs, so I feel like it’s a good neighborhood out there.”

And there are more businesses to come. T-Mobile occupies one end of the retail center, and there’s strong interest from multiple parties in the other end, said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who co-represents the development with Raquel Blount of Lloyd Cos.

“Drive-thru endcaps are always high in demand,” he said. “This one makes an outstanding space for a lot of users given the strong location and national co-tenancy.”

The remaining property provides options for additional retail, as well as other uses, Blount said.

“It could be office, some type of service, maybe hybrid retail,” she said. “The other (parcels) fortunately are going under contract, so that’s great. I can’t really say what they are, but they are professional service and service-retail.”
