Muth Electric announces leadership changes

April 9, 2019

The founders of Muth Electric are transitioning and making changes to their leadership team.

Dick and Darlene Muth started the Mitchell-based business in 1970. It has grown from two people to 400 employees in 12 states.

Dick has transitioned from CEO to chairman of the board and will continue to be active in the company in that position, according to a company statement.

Darlene continues to serve as corporate secretary and will remain on the board of directors.

Dick’s brother, Paul, who has been with the company for 40 years has become the president and CEO. He has served in various positions, including vice president of operations. He joined the family business shortly after graduating from Mitchell Technical Institute.

Longtime employee Terry Sabers also has announced he will retire in December after 45 years of employment with Muth Electric.

“Terry has been a foundation block at Muth Electric, overseeing all accounting/finance duties and has been an integral part of our success,” the company said.

Lyndon Maas is the company’s new CFO and will assume all financial oversight as of December. Maas is a graduate of the University of Sioux Falls and is a CPA. He comes to Muth Electric with a background in public accounting and has worked at a multilocation retail agriculture business.

Muth also has promoted Paul Mayer to vice president of operations. After graduating from Mitchell Technical Institute, Mayer joined the business in 2001 as an apprentice electrician, and he has worked his way up through the company, including the past four years as division manager in Rapid City.

“Muth Electric would like to thank our employees and customers for the past 50 years, and we look forward to celebrating these changes as we get ready to provide another 50 years of exceptional service and professional answers for all your electrical needs,” the company said.
