Sanford Heart Hospital

Adam Stys

Dr. Adam Stys, an interventional cardiologist at the Sanford Heart Hospital, has been inducted into the Copernican Academy by Andrzej Duda, president of the Republic of Poland. The Copernican Academy is a new institution in Polish science, based on five pillars illustrating the areas of Nicolaus Copernicus’ achievements: astronomy, economics, law, medicine, and theology and philosophy. Stys is a native of Poland. The Academy is an international institution, consisting of half Polish and half foreign members, with a maximum of 100 appointees. The key tasks for the Academy include promoting international research and cooperation, awarding Copernican prizes, supervising and supporting activities of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, as well as coordinating the International Copernican Academy Ambassador program.

Billie Sutton Leadership Institute

The Billie Sutton Leadership Institute has named members of the 2023 Sutton Leaders and Rural Power classes.

Sutton Leaders is the institute’s original program, now in its fifth year, focused on leadership development, community engagement and public service across South Dakota.

This year’s members are Adam Jorgensen, Jake Danielson, Kendra Gottsleben, Lindsey Peterson, Sara Burtis and Serene Thin Elk, all of Sioux Falls; Angie Cleberg of Aberdeen; and Elaine Yellow Horse and Karin Eagle, both of Rapid City.

Rural Power, now in its third year, seeks to grow a new generation of rural leaders and encourage involvement in local rural cooperatives providing essential services to South Dakota communities. This year’s members are Bobbi Jo Horsted, Sioux Falls; Brendyn Richards, Vermillion; Carmen Garcia Pacheco, Tabor; Courtney Sully, Wagner; Jessica Murano, Brookings; Lesley Atkins, Gregory; and Sentel Schreier, Belle Fourche.

First Bank & Trust has added two staff members.

Chris Knight

Chris Knight is the senior regional mortgage banking manager for the bank’s South Dakota mortgage teams. With 16 years of experience, he brings a strong background in both the mortgage and retail banking.

Julie Tibke is a mortgage loan officer. With three decades of experience in the mortgage industry, she has held positions in loan processing, underwriting and origination.

HydAway Hydraulic Walls

HydAway Hydraulic Walls of South Dakota won the Best of IBS Award for Best Outdoor Product at the NAHB International Builders’ Show. Each year, the trade show recognizes outstanding building products and services from exhibiting companies in nine categories. HydAway specializes in providing kinetic wall systems for various uses through its growing network of authorized installing fabricators.

Pathward

Pathward has been certified by Great Places to Work. This year, 78 percent of Pathward employees said it’s a great place to work – 21 points higher than the average U.S. company. Great Place to Work certification recognizes employers who create an outstanding employee experience. Certification is a two-step process that includes surveying employees and completing a questionnaire about the workforce.

Principal Financial Network of the Dakotas

Two financial representatives of Principal Financial Network of the Dakotas have been recognized for their performance by the professional organization Million Dollar Round Table.

Ron Staebell

Ron Staebell has qualified for Court of the Table. Staebell has 44 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving clients in the Sioux Falls area since 1982.

Tim Dardis has qualified for Top of the Table. Dardis has 31 years of experience in the financial services industry, serving clients in the Sioux Falls area since 1989.

Ryan Mazurek

Ryan Mazurek has joined the Principal Financial Network of the Dakotas and Principal Securities Inc. as a financial representative, Principal Securities registered representative and financial adviser.

Joshua Hogue

Joshua Hogue, president of Reliabank, has been elected to serve on the Independent Community Bankers of America’s rural America and agriculture committee.
