Montgomery’s is expanding in Sioux Falls with the purchase of the former Conlin’s Furniture location.

Fifth-generation family-owned Montgomery’s will be able to expand operations, enhance the customer experience and offer additional space for products by acquiring the neighboring property to the east at 1703 W. 41st St.

“As we continue to serve the community with quality furniture, flooring, mattresses, lighting and window treatments, the demand for more space has become clear. Acquiring Conlin’s Furniture will give us the opportunity to increase showroom space, showcase additional products for our customers at every price point and will allow us to continue to provide unequalled customer service.”

The former Conlin’s Furniture location will be renovated and connected to the Montgomery’s Sioux Falls showroom complex. Construction is set to begin in 2025 with the renovated space opening later in the year. The expanded showroom will include a lighting gallery, additional flooring and window treatment spaces as well as a budget center. Complimentary design services will continue upon the renovation.

Conlin’s closed in late September after 48 years in Sioux Falls.

“This decision was not made lightly, and we sincerely appreciate your support over the years,” the business said in a statement. “We thank you for your loyalty and being an integral part of our story.”

The closure leaves Conlin’s with 19 stores across the western U.S., largely in North Dakota and Montana.

 Montgomery’s also has locations in Madison, Watertown and Aberdeen.
