A Mexican restaurant is just weeks away from opening at Dawley Farm Village.

La Cantina is in a retail center that’s between Buffalo Wild Wings and Budget Blinds.

It’s owned by Reyes Aranda, who owns 14 Mexican restaurants in four states, including La Plaza Fiesta at 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Diners will find a similar menu to that restaurant at La Cantina, with some new additions, as well as a full liquor license. Aranda is waiting on the license to be finalized, but otherwise construction is coming along well, he said. “Everything is brand-new.”

The design is similar to his other Sioux Falls restaurant but “different pictures and booths and tables,” he said. “Otherwise, it’s about the same.”

Hiring has gone well, and staff are being trained at La Plaza Fiesta, he said. Sioux Falls has responded positively to that restaurant, he said.

“It’s super busy, so it’s good,” he said, adding the east-side location also “will be a really nice restaurant.”

He hasn’t set an opening day yet but said it will be sometime in the next two to three weeks.
