March 4, 2025
This week’s Up-and-Comer is Hanna Rasmussen, a marketing specialist at LifeScape.
Name: Hanna Rasmussen
Age: 28
Hometown: Renville, Minnesota
What brought you to Sioux Falls?
After completing my master’s degree at Southwest Minnesota State University in 2021, I wanted a change of scenery and always heard good things about the job opportunities in Sioux Falls, so I thought why not.
What keeps you in Sioux Falls?
It feels like a small town with how spread out it is and all there is to do around each part of the city. I also love how active this community is.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
In my role, I’m lucky to collaborate with nearly every department at LifeScape, and one that I especially enjoy working with is our therapy teams. They’re some of the most inspiring individuals I’ve met here. It’s been incredible capturing photos and videos of the kids and adults we support while witnessing the genuine passion the therapists bring to each session. I often find myself thinking that in another life, I’d love to become a therapist just to experience the impactful difference they make in our patients’ lives!
How did you get connected to your industry?
I started an internship in a marketing department, which led me to find a passion I didn’t know I had. From there, I started to venture out and create content for small businesses, helping them grow a social presence. When I saw an opportunity come up at LifeScape, my husband was working here, and I thought, how fun would it be working at the same place, and now here I am, 2.5 years later!
Describe your workplace in three words.
Passionate, supportive, impactful.
What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?
I’ve visited 25 states and 13 countries. Growing up, my parents always made family vacations a priority, and they’re some of my favorite memories to reflect on. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had such amazing parents, and their love for travel has inspired me to keep exploring and see more of this beautiful world!
What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?
I love attending Embrace Church. It was one of the first churches we saw when driving into town, and ever since it’s been like a second home. The love we receive walking through those doors in unmatched. Being part of this church community has brought so much more life and love into our lives. I also give back to future brides in our community by assisting them in finding their dream dresses at my part-time job at Marie & Marie Bridal. It’s such a wonderful experience to be part of!
What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?
A business like Graze Food Hall by Travail in Minneapolis!
If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?
I would love to create my own brewery/winery!
