Look’s Market releases plan for former Callaway’s

Jan. 21, 2019

The former Callaway’s restaurant and event space will be turned into a food market hall.

The owners of Look’s Market will use 17,000 square feet of the building, which will be significantly renovated.

Its current retail space will move from 69th Street and Western Avenue and occupy the south side of the building that used to be the pub.

“There, we will operate our butcher shop, full-service bakery, coffee and ice cream bar, deli and artisan cheese and charcuterie, along with sit-up bars in each section where guests can order ready-to-eat food,” co-owner Nick Heineman said.

A great hall will include community and private tables where guests can eat food from throughout the Market Hall.

The hall also will include a 50-seat full-service restaurant “that will be focused around live-fire cookery from our wood-fired grill and wood-fired oven,” Heineman said.

“Within the Market Hall, we will also have a small brewery to service our restaurant bar as well as accommodate the golfers.”

Two large patios will be operated on the north and east sides of the building in the summer.

In addition, the owners are installing “an exhibition kitchen for employee education and guest classes featuring our chefs, as well as makers from the Good Food Collaborative who have already committed to coming out from around the country to present Good Food with us,” Heineman said.

A name hasn’t been finalized, but Look’s Market will used in some way, he said.

The plan is to open in September or October. The remaining space, which was the event center, is for lease.
