Homemade pizza filled with local flavors is waiting at a one-of-a-kind setting just outside Sioux Falls.
The Good Earth Farm has brought back its popular Pizza at the Farm event series at 28318 466th Ave. near Lennox.
Homemade pizzas are available Friday and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. through August. After Labor Day, they’re offered Saturday and Sunday along with the you-pick pumpkin patch, which is open until mid-October.
“Our menu changes weekly depending on what produce is available from our fields and from other local growers,” co-owner Nancy Kirstein said. “We always have cheese, turkey pepperoni and some option with Wild Idea Buffalo.”
The 12-inch pizzas serve one or two. Varieties have included a popular fig and arugula pizza and a Thai one with peanut sauce.
This the second full summer of pizza events, and the Kirsteins have invested in a larger, stationary wood-fired oven for them.
“We can cook more pizzas per hour, and they cook evenly — so we have a better, more consistent product,” she said.
The menu for the upcoming weekend is published on Wednesday, so follow the business on Facebook to see it.

The Good Earth team also makes its own sauces and dough, and can make gluten-free crusts with a 24-hour notice. Local beer and wine is served too.
“We use a reservation system, so we have less food waste and so we don’t run out of pizza crusts,” Kirstein said.
Reservations are open online for the season. For groups of more than 20 that want to come out for a pizza night or to reserve special seating, email nancy@thegoodearth.us to make a reservation.
Plan to bring chairs and bug spray, and expect to stay at least a couple of hours.
“We have lawn games and plenty of space for kids to run around. We are also home to a farm animal sanctuary, so people get to feed the animals and walk the paths around our pastures,” Kirstein said.
“The best part about pizza nights at the farm is that we see kids playing and adults enjoying the peacefulness of the countryside. We hardly ever see a person looking at their cellphone. It’s a good place to unplug and enjoy an evening.”
Saturdays during the summer are reserved for private events, and corporate events can be hosted during the week.
We enjoy hosting everything from weddings to company parties and office team-building events,” Kirstein said. “Our three-story barn is perfect for seated events of 125 or fewer, and the outdoor space can accommodate up to 250.”
