Kids age 9 through 18 can spend part of their summer immersed in music at this year’s Levitt Jam Camps.
The camps are returning for their second year, with three opportunities for three age groups: 9-11, 11-14 and 14-18.
They’re a partnership between Levitt at the Falls and Augustana University.
“Students with Levitt Jam Camp can expect to immerse themselves in a week of creativity and musical exploration,” said Olivia Bertino, marketing manager for Levitt at the Falls.
“Levitt Jam Camp is all about community, fostering friendships, learning and musical inspiration. Camp culminates with a performance on the Levitt stage!”
Here’s a closer look at the camps:
- Music Explorers Jam Camp, June 9-13: New this year and designed for age 9-11, students will engage in hands-on learning with expert educators, discovering global music through rhythm, voice, dance and instrument exploration. The week will culminate in a special performance on the Levitt stage, celebrating their musical journey as part of the Festival of Cultures.
- Levitt Hip-Hop Jam Camp, June 16-20: Designed for age 11-14, students will immerse themselves in a week of exploring lyric development, purpose-driven creativity, beat making, hip-hop dance styles and music production tools. Hip-Hop Jam Camp will culminate with a special camp performance on the Levitt stage, showcasing the work of the campers alongside a professional musical artist as part of a Levitt Series concert event.
- Levitt Songwriting Jam Camp, June 23-27: Designed for age 14-18, students will learn songwriting skills, build confidence and gain inspiration from local female songwriters. Levitt Songwriting Camp will culminate with a performance on the Levitt stage, showcasing the work of the campers alongside a professional musical artist as part of a Levitt Series concert event.
“Levitt Jam Camp started as a way for the Levitt to connect with area youth in a meaningful and accessible way,” Bertino said. “It is fun, inspirational, inclusive and a unique opportunity compared to other area camps.”
Any student with an interest in music or performance is encouraged to sign up, and no prior musical experience is required.
Levitt Jam Camp is presented in partnership with Augustana University and sponsored by Avera Health, Marsh McLennan Agency and the Promising Futures Fund.
Levitt Jam Camp at Augustana operates on a pay-what-you-can basis, with a suggested tuition of $125.
“We understand that some families may contribute more or less based on their ability to pay. Every child, regardless of contribution, enjoys the same enriching experience,” Bertino said.
