Kwik Star is getting ready to start its first location in Hartford.

The Wisconsin-based gas station and convenience store chain will officially break ground at 10 a.m. Thursday at Maple Avenue and Highway 38.

“This project reflects continued growth in Hartford and the strong interest businesses have in locating here,” said Amy Farr, executive director of the Hartford Area Development Foundation.

The location will feature Kwik Star’s signature offerings, including fresh food prepared on-site, fuel services and a wide range of grocery and convenience items.

It’s expected to open in September.

Kwik Star has more than a dozen locations in Sioux Falls and the metro area, including one in Brandon and two in Harrisburg.
