Insurance account executive gives back through unique volunteer experience

June 11, 2019

This week’s Up-and-Comer is Addie Sanchez, an account executive at Holmes Murphy.

Name: Addie Sanchez

Age: 40

Hometown: Pierre

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

My college boyfriend, now husband.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

I absolutely love our city and state! We have the amenities of a bigger city but within minutes can be in the country.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Meeting business owners and learning about their industry and employees.

How did you get connected to your industry?

To start, my dad was in insurance for 45-plus years. Prior to my insurance career with Holmes Murphy, I was involved in the creation of a public entity pool and provided health insurance for several counties in our state. Before that, my focus was on providing wellness to the members of one of our state school insurance pools. This required working with 106 schools across the state to help create healthier employees. I am very passionate about wellness and discovering ways to share it with our Sioux Falls community.

Describe Holmes Murphy in three words.

Always thinking ahead.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

Volunteering at HorsePower, a Sioux Falls nonprofit that uses the influence of horses as a healing therapy for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. I’m also proud of starting the Celebrate Adoption Ministry within Celebrate Community Church in 2014.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

A drone taxi service.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

As vice president of employee benefits and shareholder at Holmes Murphy.
