Inca Mexican Restaurant expansion to include bar

Inca Mexican Restaurant is expanding to include a bar.
Inca Bar is under construction in the space north of the longtime restaurant at 3312 S. Holly Ave.
Inca owners Oscar Cadena and his wife, Angelina Espino, own the retail center at Holly and 41st Street, and the former insurance agency space next door to the restaurant has been vacant since founder Steve Elkjer died almost three years ago.

The space has been gutted, and the anticipated opening is in January, general manager Vanessa Enriquez said.

Enriquez and Espino describe the bar’s intended atmosphere as relaxing.
“There’s going to be good music, just not loud, a sit-down lounge area that they can have a good time, and they can have good food, obviously,” Enriquez said. Customers will be able to order from the full restaurant menu.
The bar, which will seat about 50 people, will have its own entrance and also be accessible from inside the restaurant.

The addition will serve customers in many ways.
“Some people come and they just want to have a beer,” Espino said. Rather than taking up a table in the restaurant, they’ll be able to sit in the bar, which will serve beer, wine and liquor.
When there is a wait time for a table in the restaurant, customers can give their name to the host and wait in the bar until one is open.
The bar likely will open at the same time as the restaurant — 11 a.m. daily — and close a little later: midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 10 p.m. the other nights.
