Historic home, acreage along golf course top million-dollar mark for weekly sales

Dec 13, 2022

Two homes topped the million-dollar mark for residential sales for the week of Nov. 21.

The No. 1 home in the All Saints District south of downtown Sioux Falls sold for $1.5 million. The historic home, known as the W.H. Foster Residence, was built in 1912 and is connected to the family who owned John Morrell & Co., the meatpacking plant here that eventually became Smithfield Foods. Both W.H. and his brother, John Morrell Foster, owned the home at different times. With 4,400 square feet, it has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. It sold in June 2018 for $570,000 and has since been extensively remodeled.

The No. 2 home, which sold for $1.4 million, was built in 2015 on 3 acres along Spring Creek Golf Course southeast of Sioux Falls. The 3,700-square-foot home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms.
