Google Play features Sioux Falls company

MarketBeat is among today’s featured companies on Google Play.

The mobile app product from Google has been featuring businesses that have built apps and games offered through Google Play as part of a campaign called #WeArePlay.

Sioux Falls-based MarketBeat’s mobile app is published on Google Play, allowing the app to reach every Android user in the U.S.

“About 50,000 people have installed MarketBeat’s app through the Google Play Store,” MarketBeat founder and CEO Matt Paulson said. “It is a great discoverability tool for MarketBeat that allows investors to find out about MarketBeat using a unique channel.”

The Google Play feature notes how Paulson created his first personal finance blog while still in college at DSU.

“Motivated by a desire to help people by giving them the tools to make informed financial decisions, the blog morphed into MarketBeat,” it said.

“Using the app, investors of all levels can navigate the stock market and make smarter, data-driven investments from their mobiles. He’s recently redesigned the watchlist feature so people can monitor their stock portfolio on the go, and the next iteration is in development with additional tools and functionality. In the future, Matt wants to provide more personalized insights based on investors’ interests.”

While he’s not sure how Google Play discovered MarketBeat, Paulson said the company’s well-publicized growth and media coverage could have caused it to be noticed.

“MarketBeat is developing a lot of partnerships with national, well-known public companies — like Nasdaq last year,” Paulson said, adding the company continues to grow both revenue and subscribers.

“MarketBeat is being noticed by big important companies,” he said.

Google Play has featured other South Dakota companies, including multiple startups.
