GoodSpirits Fine Wine & Liquor to close

May 28, 2026

A family-owned business at 41st Street and Minnesota Avenue will close this summer.

GoodSpirits Fine Wine & Liquor has tentatively set July 13 as its last day. It has been in operation for 28 years.

The decision was made as a family, said Nicky Dahm, who took over managing the business from her sister Heather Taylor. The Taylor Oil Co., which owned the property, has sold it.

“We just decided it’s time to sell,” Dahm said. “We’ve been in business for 28 years here at this location with this current building.”

A Facebook post announcing the closing states: “Serving the Sioux Falls community over the decades has meant more to us than words can express. We are deeply grateful for your support, trust, and friendships throughout the years. Thank you for making our small business part of your lives and allowing us to be part of this amazing community.”

Plans for a new business at the location will be announced later.

GoodSpirits currently is offering 80 percent off all beer- and wine-making supplies and all giftware and glassware. Future inventory-reduction sales will be announced on GoodSpirits’ Facebook page.

Taylor Oil once owned multiple gas stations around Sioux Falls. Over the years, the company downsized, Dahm said.

The family retained ownership of the 41st and Minnesota property. In the late 1980s, the family renovated the building, and they took over a smaller liquor store that was on the site.

Dahm plans to take some time off before she decides her future. While she won’t miss the long workdays, she will miss the relationships she formed over the years.

“My thing that I’ve loved the most is just helping people find something they didn’t know existed and now they love,” Dahm said. “It could be a new spirit I’ve tried or a wine from Argentina that the hadn’t thought they would want to try.”
