Giving Back for September

Sept. 28, 2018

Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities.

Firehouse Subs

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given $60,000 worth of lifesaving equipment to four first responder organizations and a hospital in the region. Recipients were Hartford Area Fire & Rescue, Chancellor Fire Department, Sanford Luverne Medical Center, Watertown Fire Rescue and Worthington Police Department.

The Empire Mall/Simon

The Empire Mall will help raise money in October for the Susan G. Komen organization’s fight against breast cancer. Customers can text “Komen” to 74666, donate $10 and instantly receive a digital More Than Pink discount pass, providing 15 percent or 25 percent off one item at each of the 20 participating retailers. Shoppers also can purchase a Susan G. Komen Visa Simon Giftcard at guest services or the mall office. One dollar for each gift card sold will be donated to the organization. The Komen gift cards are available all year. In the past year, Simon, the owner of The Empire Mall, has raised $2.8 million in support of Susan G. Komen, all generated through the support and participation of shoppers, retailers and employees.

Sanford International

Sanford International donated 3,000 pounds of extra food and kitchen items to The Banquet. The donation included cases of fresh produce, wraps and sandwiches. The feeding ministry also received condiments, spices, sauces and kitchen goods such as aluminum pans, serving gloves and trash bags.
