Giving Back recognizes businesses and organizations that are helping our communities. Here’s a look at who gave back for January.

Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation

The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has awarded grants to 13 local nonprofits in support of their efforts to help solve complex challenges, address emerging needs and enrich quality of life. The grants were made possible thanks to the Community Fund, which is supported by unrestricted gifts from donors. Recipients for the period from November through January are Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, EcoSun Prairie Farms, EmBe, Headlights Theater, Helpline Center, Levitt at the Falls, Point-In-Time Homeless Count and Housing Inventory Chart, Sanford Medical Center’s Child’s Voice, Sioux Falls Skatepark Fund, The Exilic Community in U.S.A., Warrior Wrestling Club, Woody Williams Foundation Inc. and Zoological Society of Sioux Falls.

Lloyd Cos. has made $1,972 donations to two nonprofit organizations in honor of its 50th year in business. The Making Memories Fund at the Children’s Home Society and Mitchell-based Caring Closet, which provides clothing, shoes and personal items to schoolchildren, were the first recipients. Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation

The Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation is accepting applications until April 1 for its high school scholarship program. Multiple $1,000 scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors who will be attending a college, university or technical college and majoring in a homebuilding industry-related field of study. Scholarship recipients must live in Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook or Turner counties. Download applications at hbacarefoundation.com or call 605-361-8322 for information.
