Sioux Falls-based Furniture Mart USA has received one of the furniture industry’s highest honors.

The publication Furniture Today honored Furniture Mart as one of two furniture retailers nationwide with its Leadership Award.

The company won in the category of a retailer with more than $100 million in annual sales, based on demonstrated best-in-class business practices, organizational excellence, adaptability in the face of change and community philanthropy.

“Leadership is hard to define but easy to recognize,” editor in chief Bill McLoughlin said in presenting the award.

“The ability to demonstrate leadership both within an organization and across an industry has never been more important. To highlight that importance and offer examples of how effective it can be when done well, we recognize these organizations with Furniture Today Industry Leadership Awards.”

Bailey’s Furniture of Anchorage, Alaska, was honored in the under $100 million sales category.

The Sioux Falls business, founded by Bill Hinks, has 59 stores in 46 markets and is in the process of a major expansion at its Sioux Falls headquarters.
