Fundraising made easy with Flyboy

OK, be honest parents (and students): Does anyone really look forward to fundraising season?

Flyboy Donuts has managed to – literally – perk up this task by making it fun, easy and most importantly – profitable.

“The Flyboy fundraising program can be a great fit for any group looking to do a big or small fundraiser,” owner Ben Duenwald said. “We’ve worked with schools, sports teams, band programs and nonprofit organizations, just to name a few.”

So if you’re sick of selling products from out-of-state vendors that people buy only to support your group, or dealing with fresh and frozen products, how does this sound?

Your group collects orders for Flyboy Coffee – whole bean, ground and K-cups – and Flyboy Donuts gift cards. After you turn in the order, the coffee beans are freshly roasted, and all you have to do is pick up your order.

It sounded pretty great to Diane Gildemaster, who helped organize a hugely successful fundraiser for the O’Gorman High School choirs last year. Her previous coffee vendor transitioned to Flyboy.

“We sold maybe 10 kinds of Flyboy Coffee, and they put it in special packaging for the O’Gorman choirs,” she explained. “It’s a little fancier, and people like it because they give it as gifts.”

Students sold for only two weeks in October, and coffee was delivered in November well ahead of the holiday season.

“We raised a ton of money, so it was a good deal, and Ben was really good about making sure we had what we needed to wrap up at the end,” Gildemaster said. “It was two weeks, quick sales and easy for our students.”

Plus, “it’s very good coffee,” she said. “I’m down to my last bag, and I need some more!”

The addition of K-cups has been a hit, Duenwald said.

“People love the convenience of using K-cups at home and don’t mind spending a little more for these through a fundraiser because they know the product is very high quality,” he said. “There is nowhere else you can get a K-cup made with coffee roasted right in Sioux Falls. We will also have personalized web pages for larger groups to use to help groups reach and exceed their fundraising goals with online sales, which can go on for several months after the main fundraiser is complete.”

“You’ll be surprised how quick and easy it is to get started and soon reap the rewards of your fundraiser,” he said.
