Fruit fans conduct nectarine taste test

This piece is presented by The Fruit Club.

We promise: You’ve never seen — or tasted — nectarines like these.

Trucked directly from Washington and available for a limited time, you can buy them only at The Fruit Club.

At first glance, you’ll notice the difference between a store-bought nectarine (on the left) and a Fruit Club nectarine.

But don’t take our word for it.

We asked three fruit fans to taste a Fruit Club nectarine alongside a store-bought one. Here’s what happened:

Name: Kelly

Occupation: Nonprofit gift planner, grandma

Before the taste test: “I’ve never had Fruit Club fruit, but I’ve heard it’s great.”

Visual reaction: “The Fruit Club nectarines are obviously much larger. And they smell better.”

Taste test: “The skin is a little tough. It’s a little coarse,” Kelly said, biting into the store-bought nectarine. “I need a napkin for this one,” she said, eating The Fruit Club nectarine. “It’s good. Juicy and easier to bite into and sweeter. I would choose this one.”

Name: Andrew

Occupation: Attorney

Before the taste test: “I’ve had Fruit Club pears and apples but not the nectarines.”

Visual reaction: “Fruit Club is definitely bigger. It doesn’t seem as hard. The Fruit Club one has a more sweet fragrance.”

Taste test: “It’s kind of stringy. It has some juice to it, but the flavor is not all there,” he said, eating the store-bought nectarine. “It has a lot of juice. It’s really sweet,” he said about The Fruit Club nectarine. “And it has a smooth texture to the flesh. I’d definitely choose The Fruit Club.”

Name: Helen

Occupation: College student

Before the taste test: “I’ve had Fruit Club fruit and really liked it but haven’t tried the nectarines.”

Visual reaction: “The Fruit Club is definitely bigger. The store one is a little tougher. The Fruit Club is a little softer, maybe a little more ripe.”

Taste test: “It’s not quite as juicy as you want it to be. The flavor isn’t bad,” she said about the store-bought nectarine. “This one has a lot more juice, and the texture isn’t as stringy,” she said about The Fruit Club one. “It’s what you want a nectarine to be. I would choose this one.”

Thanks to our taste-testers!
