Downloading the app is easy.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you don’t even need to create an account. Simply enter your home address, and the app will get you going from there.

Pickup made easy

The biggest reason most people use the app is to keep track of trash and recycling pickup. There’s no longer a need to wonder if it’s a recycling week with this.

You can set the app to notify you the day before your service or the day of to remind you if you need to put out your recycling container.

You also can use the app to pay your bill, restart your service or report a problem to Novak.

And speaking of recycling

Have a question about what can be recycled? The app will answer it.

Just click on the “Waste Wizard” feature, and search for the item you’re wondering about disposing.

“One of the biggest reminders is Sytrofoam,” said Tim Deppe, Novak’s sales manager.

This time of year, as yard cleanup and landscaping are starting, you also can double-check what to do with grass clippings and lawn and garden waste.

Fortunately, we haven’t needed it too much this year, but when weather creates issues with trash service, you’ll find out right away with the app.

“This allows us to send you a notification if your service is going to be delayed,” Kretzschmar said. “And it’s important to know that we only use your app for information purposes, never for solicitation.”

Saying thanks

And finally, here’s one of the best parts of the app: You can even use it to thank your Novak driver.

From the home screen, under “more tools,” there’s a button that says “appreciate your driver,” which allows you to write about your experience.

“We get quite a few compliments,” Deppe said. “And we share those at team meetings – including handing out gift cards and gift certificates. We take very good care of our drivers, and we love feedback from customers.”
