Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has broken ground on its second Sioux Falls store.

This one will be on the campus of The Empire Mall on vacant land south of Burger King, east of the former Gordmans and north of the Hy-Vee convenience store and gas station. It’s scheduled to open late this year or early in 2023.

Sioux Falls diners quickly are proving they’re Freddy’s fans.

When the Dawley Farm Village location opened on the east side in late April, it set a new company record for the strongest opening week sales.

“Response to our Dawley location has been incredible, and we are extremely grateful to the community for their support,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Freddy’s is known for its cooked-to-order steakburgers made with lean 100 percent ground beef, Vienna Beef hot dogs, crispy shoestring fries and frozen treats made with freshly churned chocolate or vanilla custard.
