Fareway Stores Inc. is bringing its Fareway Meat Market concept to Luverne, Minnesota.

It will be the first location in the state for the meat shop, which will renovate the former W-2’s Quality Meats store at 220 W. Main St. Luverne is about 30 miles east of Sioux Falls.

Renovation of the building will begin immediately, with a tentative opening in early fall.

Fareway Meat Market is a stand-alone store with a full-service butcher counter. In addition to providing options for shoppers’ main course, the inventory includes side dishes and extras for grilling season.

“We are excited to announce plans for our first Fareway Meat Market in Minnesota,” CEO Reynolds Cramer said in a statement. “We would like to thank local city and economic development officials for helping make this project possible as we look forward to serving and becoming an integral part of the Luverne community.”

The Iowa-based chain has four Fareway Meat Market locations and plans to add stores next month in Des Moines and Olathe, Kansas, as well as in the Kansas City area in late 2022.
