Facing chicken wing shortage fears, restaurant chain turns to thighs
July 2, 2021
Facing fears of a shortage of chicken wings, one national restaurant chain has made a clever adaptation.
Wingstop, which has a restaurant at 1902 S. Minnesota Ave., has created Thighstop.
The virtual brand is available through DoorDash, with delivery and carryout options.
Customers can get boneless or bone-in thighs tossed in one of 11 flavors that Wingstop also uses. Those range from the zero-flame Hawaiian and garlic parmesan to mango habanero and the five-flame Atomic.
Combo meals with fries also are available.
“Wingstop pioneered the concept of chicken wings as a center-of-the-plate item. Although Thighstop is in its infancy, we’ve been exploring bone-in and boneless thighs as center-of-the-plate options for some time now as a way to offer fans new ways to enjoy Wingstop’s bold, distinctive and craveable flavors,” Charlie Morrison, CEO of Thighstop, said in a news release.
Customers can start their order at thighstop.com or go directly to DoorDash’s website.
And not to worry, Wingstop has plenty of wings — at least at this point.
