DWU announces new president

Dec. 3, 2021

A higher education leader in Iowa has been named the next president of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.

Daniel Kittle will become the university’s 21st president. He’s currently vice president for student life and dean of students at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where he has worked for 16 years.

“The board and the entire Dakota Wesleyan community are so very pleased to welcome Dr. Dan Kittle and his family to the university. Our charge as a board was to find the best possible candidate, and we are certain that Dr. Kittle’s background and experiences have well prepared him to carry out the important work of leading the university,” said Doug Powers, chairman of the board of trustees.

Kittle will assume his new role in March 2022.

“I am honored to accept the call to serve Dakota Wesleyan University. I want to be a servant leader for the university, a good steward of the enduring mission and values while also inspiring the Dakota Wesleyan University community to meet the opportunities and challenges ahead,” he said.

“I enter this community with a spirit of humility, with much to learn, and equally with determination, knowing that we have compelling opportunities and challenges.”
