Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. announces annual awards

Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. has honored a number of individuals and businesses with its annual awards.
They were presented at the organization’s annual meeting on Thursday.
“The success of downtown has never been accidental,” DTSF CEO Brandon Hanson said. “It’s the result of thousands of intentional choices—to invest, to care, to collaborate. We’re here to celebrate that spirit and shape what’s next.”
The winners are:
New Business of the Year – BibiSol
Highlighting a new business that has quickly made its mark on downtown, demonstrating innovation, success, and engagement.
From the nomination: “A true downtown treasure, BibiSol has quickly made its mark with inspired dishes, seasonal ingredients, and deep community roots. Whether it’s brunch or dessert, this James Beard semi-finalist brings tradition to life in every bite.”
Non-Profit of the Year – Friends of the Big Sioux River
Acknowledging an organization making a meaningful difference in downtown through advocacy, outreach, and service.
From the nomination: “For this group, every day is Earth Day. From organizing large-scale clean-ups to community education and advocacy, Friends of the Big Sioux River is a tireless force for conservation—with even a river-sourced specialty beer to toast their mission.”
Food & Beverage of the Year – The Breaks
Honoring a restaurant, bar, or eatery that enhances the downtown dining scene through quality, service, and community impact.
From the nomination: “A downtown staple for nearly a decade, The Breaks continues to keep Sioux Falls caffeinated and connected. Roasting, brewing, and serving from their current location since 2020, their reach extends beyond downtown—collaborating with local spots and even a brewery for a one-of-a-kind “Coffee Shop Playlist” brew.”
Retailer of the Year – Plums Cooking Company
Recognizing a downtown retailer that excels in customer experience, innovation, and contribution to the vibrancy of the shopping district.
From the nomination: “This culinary gem offers more than retail therapy—it’s a hub for education and inspiration. From high-end cookware to hands-on classes, Plums Cooking Co. brings flavor and flair to downtown’s shopping scene.”
Professional Service of the Year – Architecture Inc.
Awarded to a person, organization, or business that enhances downtown’s landscape by building community and fostering growth and connection.
From the nomination: “With nearly 50 years of impact, Architecture Inc. continues to shape the look and feel of Sioux Falls. Their recent renovation of the historic Orpheum Theater lobby restored a piece of downtown’s charm, and their commitment to creative education across the state leaves a lasting mark beyond the skyline.”
BID Champion of the Year – Jeff Eckhoff
Presented to a forward-thinking individual or business that has made a positive impact on improving the Business Improvement District.
From the nomination: “A visionary in economic development and planning, Jeff Eckhoff has been instrumental in shaping a stronger, smarter Sioux Falls. His leadership continues to guide growth that benefits both businesses and residents.”
Spirit of Downtown Sioux Falls Award – Anita Wetsch
Recognizing a person or organization that has a legacy of advocating for downtown and making substantial contributions to our community through passion and commitment.
From the nomination: “With a heart for helping and a head for business, Anita Wetsch embodies the spirit of downtown. Her work in real estate, construction, and design helps others navigate big life moments—always with passion and purpose.”
