Downtown restaurant to close, keep food truck

March 12, 2024

A plant-based restaurant in downtown Sioux Falls is closing but will continue to operate its food truck.

‘Brosia Bowl’s last day in business in the first-floor marketplace of the Jones421 Building will be March 22, and owner Darcy Green is throwing a customer appreciation party March 23.

“I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support,” Green said in a video on social media. “These last couple of years have been kind of tough, but it’s been a great learning experience for me and my team.”

Green started ‘Brosia Bowl as a meal-delivery service in 2019, added the food truck in 2021 and expanded as a restaurant in August 2022 while continuing to run the mobile operation. Her menu focuses on vegan and vegetarian salads, grain bowls, sandwiches, wraps and soups.

“We have been struggling a little bit in this location,” she said. “I think that there’s a lot of factors to consider, but long story short, we put up the good ol’ fight but we are, in fact, going to be closing our location.”

Green looked at relocating the restaurant but decided instead to focus on the food truck.

“This is not goodbye. This is we’ll see you later. … We’re going to just focus on the food truck and maybe start doing some more catering events. And I’m going to work with my team on potentially doing an online ordering platform like we had started with a couple of years ago.”

‘Brosia Bowl will be at the Falls Park Farmers Market again this season, which runs every Saturday from May through October.

“It’s a really good place to come down and see us every week and get your breakfast and/or lunch,” Green said. “We’re going to have some smoothies and juices and some new breakfast items we’re really excited about.”

The food truck will be available for other public and private events.

The customer appreciation party with “some free food, kind of buffet style” will be from noon to 4 p.m. March 23 in the Jones421 Building, 421 N. Phillips Ave.
