Downtown restaurant Pappy’s ‘closed until further notice’

From staff reports

Downtown restaurant Pappy’s the Original is closed.

A note on the door of the business reads: “Due to a number of recent events, Pappy’s will remain closed until further notice.”

The restaurant is in an office building at Ninth Street and Phillips Avenue that also houses Frontier Bank and WoodGrain Brewing Co., DocuTap and other businesses.

Frontier set up coffee and cookies in the lobby for disappointed customers, especially other workers in the office building.

“We just had a lot of people come down who looked caffeine-deprived, so we found them some coffee and cookies,” said Ashley Dunn, a trust administrative assistant.

She said the bank likely will keep serving coffee at least through this week.

Pappy’s is owned by Chris and Jessica Pappas. Jessica declined to comment but took a message for Chris.

Gift-card holders who want refunds are asked to mail the card to: Pappy’s, 1913 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57105.
