This week’s Up-and-Comer is Shannon Mollet, digital strategist at The Sampson House.
Name: Shannon Mollet
Age: 30
Hometown: Sioux Falls
What brought you to Sioux Falls?
I was born and raised in Sioux Falls!
What keeps you in Sioux Falls?
Sioux Falls is a great community to work and live. It is continuously growing, providing opportunities and things to do while still being a safe-enough area to raise a family.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I love that the digital world is constantly changing. What might be a focus now could be completely different in a few months. It forces me to keep learning and growing. I am never bored!
How did you get connected to your industry?
I went to school for advertising at SDSU and had an excellent adviser. A new class they were offering focused on all things digital, and my adviser recommended that I take it. The course was so interesting that I knew that that would be the direction that I would want to take upon graduation.
Describe The Sampson House in three words.
There are so many that I could use, but if I only can use three, I would say creative, determined and innovative!
What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?
I love food and am always willing to try anything once. I have even tried the Carolina Reaper pepper, the spiciest pepper in the world. Shortly after eating it, I consumed almost a whole box of popsicles.
What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?
I am a big advocate for animals when I can be. My husband and I adopted our dog, Howard, from an incredible organization, B-Squad, that rescues dogs from reservations. I try my best to give back to organizations that care for and support animals!
What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?
I love Greek food, so I would love to see another Greek restaurant come to Sioux Falls.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I am someone who loves learning about digital trends and updates. In the next five years, I hope to become an expert in the ever-changing digital world while continuing to provide clients with the most relevant and innovative strategies.
