Dawley Farms boutique celebrates one year of new ownership with special events

An east-side boutique is celebrating one year of new ownership this week with giveaways and partnerships with other Dawley Farms shops.

Rachel Opstad took over ownership of Mainstream Boutique, which is along Highline Place just south of Buffalo Wild Wings, in July 2020.

Opstad moved from Kansas City to run the boutique and to be closer to her parents, longtime business owners themselves who helped the 24-year-old launch her venture.

Support close to home has been huge in her first year, Opstad said.

“Every owner takes a risk, and my parents have done that all their life, so I kind of went with it,” she said.

Mainstream Boutique is unique in that it’s multigenerational. Opstad wears the clothes, but so do her 56-year-old mother and 80-year-old grandmother.

“She’s really done well,” mother Meredith Opstad said. “She’s come along and made it, and she just has a knack for putting things together.”

To mark one year in business, Mainstream Boutique is giving away a goodie bag with each purchase through Saturday.

The goodie bag includes items from other local businesses at Dawley Farm Village.

The boutique also is partnering with other shops throughout the week. Today is a “Wine Wednesday” offering with the boutique’s next-door neighbor Cellar 54, so Mainstream shoppers can enjoy wine samples and charcuterie. That likely will be back on Saturday too.
