Credit union to open microbranch
Sept. 24, 2025
Bluestone Federal Credit Union is taking a new approach with its next location: a microbranch.
The smaller footprint space will be near 41 Street and Sertoma Avenue and offer members access to interactive ATMs and lending services.
“The microbranch concept allows us to offer our members the services they want and need closest to home and work,” said Alayna Johnson, president of Bluestone. “When we looked at our members’ locations, we saw an opportunity to offer services closer to our members west of I-29.”
Offering more complex services than a traditional ATM, interactive ATMs provide live, two-way chat that connects members virtually to a member service representative for support. Two interactive ATMs will be located inside the building with one outdoors for 24-hour access. The branch also will be staffed during business hours for members needing in-person support.
“While financial transactions are completed through the interactive ATMs, we still want to provide in-person support to our members,” Johnson said.
“That person-to-person connection is a cornerstone of the service we provide our members at Bluestone Federal Credit Union.”
The branch at 6311 W. 41st St. is scheduled to open in spring 2026 and is being built by Reynolds Construction Management.
Bluestone Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1938 and serves almost 12,000 members in 43 counties across South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in these counties. The credit union offers savings, checking, lending, credit card, investment services and more.
