The Cookie Jar Eatery will be returning to downtown soon.

The longtime restaurant has moved to the Lumber Exchange building, 101 S. Reid St., and plans to open at 7 a.m. Aug. 1.

The first 48 customers will receive a free 3-inch cookie.

There also will be a raffle to win a lunch for two.

The Cookie Jar moved from Shriver Square, where Chase Bank is moving in later this year.

Glen and Elaine Koch have owned The Cookie Jar for 20 of its 50 years in business. With the new location, the restaurant will have a patio and be located off the River Greenway trail, plus be open Monday through Saturday.
