Cookie Jar opens in new space

Aug. 6, 2019

The cookies are back inside Shriver Square with the reopening of The Cookie Jar Eatery in its new space.

The move was just across the hall, and the new spot has the same classic red and white decor as the former one, along with a few tables and booths inside.

Breakfast, which is served from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., includes breakfast sandwiches, muffins, caramel rolls, oatmeal, cheesy hash brown casserole, biscuits and gravy, and an egg bake special.

Lunch includes salad sandwiches, hot sandwiches, specialty sandwiches, salads and combos. Chicken tortilla soup and chili will be offered daily, and another soup will rotate each week. This week, it’s creamy tomato basil.

The menu also includes more than two dozen cookies and bars.

Glen and Elaine Koch started the business 17 years ago and said they are happy with how the new location turned out.

“We actually have a lot more seating in the corridor than we had before,” Glen Koch said. “And we’re going to try all counter ordering, so we’ll deliver to them and use a numbering system.”

Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The former Cookie Jar space across the hall is being turned into a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant, which plans to start construction soon and open this fall. There are two more spaces left to lease, which the building owner hopes to fill with other food concepts.
