Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Schulte Subaru is building a more than 50,000-square-foot building that will include a collision center for all makes and models, and a tire center. The building might be ready to open by early next year. The dealership also recently added a dog park along the north side of the property at 85th and Minnesota that’s open to anyone.

Christi Petersen is opening Seasoned Style, selling upcyled furniture and home decor at 824 W. 10th St. She has been running her business for a decade, supporting it through vendor events and as a co-owner of The Shoppe in Dell Rapids. The plan is to be open the third Thursday, Friday and Saturday each month. Her first sales will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18-19.

The Alibi Bar & Grill is moving into a new building across the street on the north side of Arrowhead Parkway. Capacity will increase from 85 customers to 200. The building also will house a new restaurant, The Scapegoat, featuring Neapolitan pizza and other menu items. Silver Dollar Casino also will be located there, with 40 video lottery machines in four separate rooms. The goal is to open the restaurants in the third week of August and the casino even earlier.

Virginia-based Performance Food Group Co. has acquired OLM Food Solutions, a Sioux Falls company that has been in business for more than 40 years and has additional locations in Iowa and Tennessee. Previous names for it include Orion Land Mark and Orion Food Systems. PFG  is one of the largest food and food service distribution companies in North America with more than 150 locations. No immediate impacts to the local operation were disclosed.

The Washington Pavilion will open a museum shop next year at The Steel District near Fourth and Phillips. The store will sell artwork and other merchandise and offer artist receptions and other events. It also will serve as a box office.

Sanford Health has called off its merger with Minnesota-based Fairview Health Services, citing a lack of “support for this transaction from certain Minnesota stakeholders.” The combined health system would have been based in Sioux Falls.

Parker’s Bistro has gained more seating and a new bar, Myrtle’s Fur Vault & Bar, with the opening of its expansion into the building to the north at 208 S. Main Ave. The bar seats 50 people. It has a full liquor license and a food menu that offers a half-dozen appetizers, which are made in the kitchen at Parker’s. The back half of the expansion is the additional dining area for Parker’s with seating for 60 people.

Jaber Soul is closing its women’s boutique in The Empire Mall. The final day is Aug. 20. The business will continue with online sales, pop-up shops and private shopping parties.

Maleah Grigsby is bringing the Smart City Women’s Congress to Sioux Falls. It’s designed as a group that will meet monthly, starting with an information meeting Sept. 9 and continuing through May. “This will be a group designed for women of younger generations to gather and learn about their city, find real concerns of their generation and create achievable solutions,” Grigsby said.

Sister companies Empower U and Move U have moved into new locations. Empower U at 7303 S. Cliff Ave. offers one-on-one performance physical therapy that pairs dry needling with manual therapy and therapeutic exercises to help clients overcome pain and stay active. It also offers education courses focused on relieving chronic pain, working in fitness studios and within businesses. Move U at 5020 S. Tennis Lane serves children with sensory deficit disorders by using occupational therapy.

Midco is moving its corporate office into the Lumber Exchange building at 101 S. Reid St. Earlier this year, the company consolidated its call center workforce into its office building at 4020 W. Cayman St. That site will continue to house operations team members, with senior executives and teams for marketing, communications, human resources, legal and finances moving downtown next spring.

Nekter Juice Bar, a fast-growing national restaurant that also serves smoothies and acai bowls, is opening its first Sioux Falls location at Dawley Farm Village. It’s being franchised by Jody and Melissa Reno. Nekter will be in a retail center at the development with other tenants such as Jersey Mike’s Subs and SafeSplash Swim School. It plans to open sometime this fall.

Starbucks is coming to the main lobby of the Sanford USD Medical Center. The coffee shop will be a licensed location from Hegg Cos., which also has a Starbucks inside the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown. Hegg is leasing the space from Sanford. It’s expected to open next spring.

Watecha Bowl has added a gift shop with traditionally made Lakota and other Sioux art to its restaurant at 2305 W. Madison St.

The Bed, Bath & Beyond store in Sioux Falls has closed. When the company filed for bankruptcy in April, it started a liquidation sale. In July, Overstock.com bought the Bed, Bath & Beyond name, customer data and online assets and has rebranded under the new name, selling all of its merchandise through a relaunched bedbathandbeyond.com.
