Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

A new gym, ETS Sioux Falls, specializes in individualized personal training for youth athletes and customized team training. It’s at 3505 S. Minnesota Ave. Services include speed, strength and power development training. It’s part of a national network for ETS Performance, which is based in Minnesota and has 23 locations in five states.

Click Rain and Lemonly have moved into their new office at 217 N. Nesmith Ave. The location brings the two digital marketing agencies, which merged in January 2021, under one roof.

After three decades, Fuddruckers has closed its Sioux Falls location. The restaurant known for its hamburgers was at 3101 W. 41st St.

Sanford Health and Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to combine. It would create a system under the Sanford Health name with more than $13.5 billion in annual revenue, ranking it among the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems. The deal is expected to close sometime next year.

CaveGamers is building a 54,000-square-foot office and warehouse. The growing e-commerce business, which is housed in multiple locations, specializes in reselling video games and systems, collectible toys and action figures.

La Plaza Fiesta Mexican Restaurant is putting the final touches on its space in a retail center at 521 W. 85th St. in front of Walmart and hopes to open later this week. It’s a new partnership for two families who have their own restaurants in Brookings and Madelia, Minnesota. La Plaza Fiesta will be open daily.

A new 44-acre development in northeast Sioux Falls will include residential and commercial offerings. The site on the east side of Veterans Parkway south of Maple Street will include The Verve on Veterans apartment complex, a new office headquarters for Deffenbaugh Homes, a location for T&T Granite & Quartz and additional commercial and residential development.

AS Revival, a store from the owners of Altar’d State that specializes in athleisure, has opened at The Empire Mall. It’s next to Anthropologie in the JCPenney wing.

Boss’ Pizzeria & Sports Bar is expanding to Brookings. Franchise owners Dallas Wilkinson, who is a partner in the Sioux Falls location, and Darren Newborg have taken over The Lodge Sports Bar & Grill in the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites. They’re remodeling the space and expect to convert to the Boss’ menu in mid-December.

Smoothie King is bringing a franchised location to Empire Place, the retail center in front of The Empire Mall. The menu of drinks combines whole fruits, organic vegetables and nutritional enhancers. The plan is to start construction soon and open in the spring.

Empire Place also will become home to a franchised location for Taichi Bubble Tea, a restaurant offering ramen, sushi and bubble tea. Build-out is expected to start soon with an opening next year.

The Furniture Mart USA headquarters has doubled in size with warehouse space and new retail locations for Ashley HomeStore and Furniture Mart. Construction of the 300,000-square-foot addition began in 2021 at 140 E. Hinks Lane — along 60th Street North east of Minnesota Avenue. Two-thirds of that is additional warehouse space. The retail side also includes a large clearance center called Outlet 08. The stores are open daily.

Prairie Road Yarn has opened at 3101 W. 41st St., Suite 115, across the parking lot from Olive Garden. The locally owned store sells yarn and supplies for knitting and crocheting, and offers a seating area for people to gather and work on their projects. It’s open Wednesday through Saturday.

Aldi will open its fourth Sioux Falls location Dec. 8. It’s at 4201 W. 61st Circle N., near the northwest Walmart. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Jaber Soul Boutique has moved into a larger space at The Empire Mall. It’s near the Sanford Children’s play area not far from Applebee’s. Profits from the store are used to support community service projects in Kenya.

The Fruit Truck Market has moved to 523 N. Kiwanis Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. In addition to fruit trucked directly from growers, the grocery store features Hutterite colony products and imported goods.

Scooter’s Coffee has opened its ninth location in Sioux Falls. The newest site, which is a drive-thru kiosk with a walkup window, is at 1700 N. Cavalier Ave., to the west of Jefferson High School. Hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
