Locally owned Child’s Play Toys is adding a third location in Sioux Falls. The new toy store, which also sells clothing, will open Friday in The Bridges at 57th retail center at 57th and Western. It’s taking over the former Kidtopia space, which consolidated to one toy store in January. Child’s Play Toys will be open daily.

An expansion for Parker’s Bistro that’s underway in the building north of the restaurant at 210 S. Main Ave. will add a full bar and more seating. On the original side, the kitchen will expand, and the back dining area will be closed. Owner Stacy Newcomb isn’t putting a time table on the opening of the new area but expects it to be this year.

The Tavern Grill, a restaurant that began in the Twin Cities, is expanding to Sioux Falls. It will fill the long-vacant Spezia space in the Beakon Centre at 57th and Louise. The menu will feature build-your-own sections with nearly limitless combinations for burgers, salads and pizzas, along with pastas, steak and other entrees. The Tavern Grill will offer a Sunday brunch buffet and will be open for lunch and dinner daily. The owners hope to be open by late August.

A new state-of-the-art health care simulation center will be created in Sioux Falls, allowing hundreds of additional students to train for careers in the medical field. The Healthcare Simulation Center will be part of Southeast Technical College and is a partnership of government, education and industry. Construction is expected to start this summer once Startup Sioux Falls vacates the building at 2329 N. Career Ave., with students being able to use the center beginning in the fall of 2023.

The Crossroads development also will be home to a Starbucks. The coffee shop broke ground about a month ago and will open later this summer.

Holiday Stationstores locations in Sioux Falls and Brandon are being rebranded as Circle K. The gas station at 26th and Cliff that’s part of the chain is expected to close in late April and will be demolished. Circle K has started work on the same block to build a new store with a car wash. It’s expected to reopen this summer.

The restaurant will be a full-size DQ Grill & Chill on Western Avenue across from Coffee Cup Fuel Stop and off the Interstate 90 exit. The plan is to be open by the end of the year.

Sioux Falls-based MetaBank NA is changing its name to Pathward NA. The move follows a brand strategy review last year following the sale of Meta’s name and trademarks to the company formerly known as Facebook. Meta Financial Group Inc., MetaBank’s public holding company, also will be changing its name to Pathward Financial Inc. by the end of the year.

Charlie’s Pizza House has opened in the former Look’s Marketplace near 69th and Western.
