Get Biofuel, a new national consumer campaign aimed at educating drivers about biofuel’s power to reduce vehicle emissions, will be featured during Friday’s Bellator MMA event at the Sanford Pentagon.

Growth Energy, the country’s largest biofuel advocacy organization of which POET is a founding member, is leading the Get Biofuel initiative. The organization has long partnered with a number of MMA fighters to help showcase its message, including this latest campaign.

Webster native Logan Storley will feature the Get Biofuel logo on his shorts, shirts and fight banners during Friday’s fight along with Archie Coltan, Bailey Schoenfelder and Taylor Johnson.

Ranked No. 4 in Bellator’s welterweight division and fighting out of Coconut Creek, Florida, Storley’s professional record is 11-1. The former four-time All-American for the University of Minnesota said he is thrilled to represent the Get Biofuel campaign in his home state.

“I’m a longtime partner of and advocate for the biofuels industry. Given my upbringing on the farm, not only do I recognize the importance of biofuels for the rural economy, I’ve also learned a lot about their benefits to drivers and the environment,” Storley said.

“I’m especially excited about the Get Biofuel campaign because it focuses on proving there’s a cleaner way to fuel. As an athlete, it’s critical for me to fuel my body in a clean way to enhance my performance, and drivers can do the same thing for their vehicles by choosing biofuels at the pump.”

That’s because biofuels like bioethanol cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 46 percent and help displace some of the most harmful fuel additives in gasoline — creating cleaner air and a healthier environment.

In addition to highlighting biofuel’s environmental benefits, the campaign also promotes the accessibility and affordability of biofuels. Biofuel blends like E15, which contains 15 percent plant-based bioethanol, save drivers up to 10 cents per gallon at the pump. E15 is approved for vehicles made in 2001 or newer, which is nine out of ten vehicles on the road today, and can be found at over 2,300 stations around the country.

Almost all fuel sold in American already contains 10 percent bioethanol. Choosing higher blends of biofuel allows drivers to reduce their emissions even further.

Drivers can join the fight for cleaner air and a healthier planet by upgrading to biofuel for their vehicle. Visit getbiofuel.com and enter your ZIP code to find stations near you that offer E15 and higher biofuel blends.

“It really is something that every day Americans can get behind. It’s a simple change you can make right now with what you have, and it will improve the health of your family and the environment,” said Bryce Jones, senior director of sales and membership at Growth Energy.

Another arm of the campaign, Get Bioethanol, is featured in a NASCAR program along with a team partnership with Richard Childress Racing and its No. 3 car. The partnership highlights the vehicle performance enhancement properties of biofuels. In fact, every NASCAR driver on the track powers their vehicle with E15.

“Biofuel is a renewable fuel source made from plants. It keeps your engine cleaner and has a lasting impact on the planet. It’s a win-win for your car and the climate,” Jones said.

Consumers are invited to participate in the Get Biofuel campaign by pledging to use biofuels and sharing their pledge on social media. It’s similar, Jones said, to consumers who switch from plastic grocery bags to reusable bags.

“At the end of the day, this is about driving demand for a cleaner, healthier world by promoting biofuels,” he said.
